The second Masters event of the 2024 Valorant esports season is taking place in Shanghai, China. Twelve teams have qualified for the event from the four VCT International Leagues – VCT Americas, EMEA, China, and Pacific.
This is the first VCT Masters event in China and the first event in 2024 to feature 12 teams. VCT Masters Shanghai is expected to bring in thousands of Chinese Valorant fans who have yet to see a VCT international competition or a Chinese team claim a trophy.

VCT Masters Shanghai Schedule: When does the tournament start?
VCT Masters Shanghai starts on May 23 and runs through June 9.
The final matches will be played at the Mercedes-Benz Arena, which has hosted professional Dota 2 and League of Legends events in the past.
The Swiss stage will run from May 23 to May 27. There will be a three-day break before the Playoffs kick off from May 30 to June 9.

VCT Masters Shanghai: Format & Prize pool
VCT Masters Shanghai will feature an updated format that builds off Madrid’s structure.
Just like in Madrid, eight teams will be put into a Swiss format group stage, where the top four teams will qualify.
However, the highest-seeded team from each region will get a buy into the playoffs. Additionally, each team will be allowed to choose their opponent from the Swiss stage. This means that the highest-seed teams can draft matches that benefit them the most.
The prize pool for the tournament is a combined $1,000,000 with the champion taking home $350,000.
