The latest PlayStation State of Play showed off some new looks at the Silent Hill 2 remake, the 5v5 shooter Concord, and the next Monster Hunter installment.

The month of May has been a PlayStation rumor mill, as many industry figures pointed to PlayStation hosting a digital showcase as part of this year’s Summer Games Fest.

With just days to go, Sony announced the 2024 PlayStation State of Play. The event featured over 14 PS5 and PS VR2 titles, some of which will launch later this year.

Here is everything announced during the event and when these games will be released.

Concord – August 23, 2024

While not everyone is convinced that Concord will be a Call of Duty beater, fans of competitive multi-player shooters should take note. Developed by Firewalker Studios, Concord promises some addictive FPS action. However, does it have what it takes to stand up to COD and Apex?

God of War Ragnarok (PC) – September 19, 2024

The sequel to God of War (4) will finally make its way to PC this September. The Norse Pantheon have Kratos and his son in their sights, but the Ghost of Sparta has a rather murderous track record when it comes to Gods who get in his way. God of War Ragnarok was one of the best PS5 games of 2022 so it’s great that PC players can soon experience the wrath of Kratos.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins – 2025

In what is hopefully a return to form for the long-running hack-and-slash franchise, Dynasty Warriors: Origins looks set to wipe the slate clean and provide a more grounded take on the classic formula. Set during the dynastic wars of China’s early kingdoms, Dynasty Warriors will take the story back to its roots, letting players control some of history’s most legendary fighters.

Infinity Nikki – Q3 2024

Infinity Nikki has been described as an “open-world dress-up adventure game” developed by Papergames. Players will control Nikki and her sidekick, Momo in a vast fantasy world which they explore together while customizing the look of both characters to help them progress and to look fabulous while doing so.

Ballad of Antara – 2025

Ballad of Antara looks like an exciting blend of Soulslike and Final Fantasy. Players have two worlds to explore, one being the usual day-to-day land, while another is a darker hellscape known as the “Para”. The two worlds exist side-by-side each other and players will need to be able to survive in both depending on the quest they’re on.

Behemoth

Behemoth is a VR experience that puts players into the shoes of a warrior trying to defend their land from massive monsters that are attacking. The developers describe the game as a “Dark fantasy to stretch the boundaries of what’s possible inside a headset, creating a grim new world teeming with mystery and dangers great and small”.

Alien: Rogue Incursion – Holiday 2024

In space, no one can hear you scream, but your neighbors certainly will. Alien Rogue Incursion will channel Ridley Scott’s original movie and 2014’s incredible Alien Isolation in a new VR experience that is bound to terrify even the bravest of souls. After all, there’s nothing scarier than being trapped in an abandoned spacecraft while a relentless Xenomorph hunts you.

Marvel Rivals PlayStation Closed Beta – July 2024

The Marvel Rivals closed beta will arrive this summer, letting players finally be able to control their favorite Marvel superheroes and villains in an epic six vs. six third-person shootout. The game will be free-to-play and has a current lineup of 21 characters from across the Marvel Comics universe.

Where Winds Meet

Where Winds Meet is an upcoming Soulslike/open-world adventure that puts players in the shoes of a wandering swordsman during ancient China’s tumultuous Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms era. According to the game’s developers, players will explore a land ravaged by war and territorial disputes between warlords, where political intrigue, power struggles, and epic battles will shape the course of history.

Until Dawn (PS5 and PC) – Fall 2024

Until Dawn was a PS4 classic that saw a group of teens become trapped in a cabin in the woods while a crazed killer – and something even scarier – hunted them from the shadows. In 2024, the legendary horror game will be remade for PS5 and PC. Get ready to face your fears all over again in a playable horror movie that you control.

Path of Exile 2 (PS5) – 2024

The original Path to Exile was a hack-and-slash adventure that used the Diablo formula effectively. After learning from the first game, and feedback from players, Path to Exile 2 is set to be an experience that gives the mighty Diablo 4 a run for its money. If you like hacking monsters to bits while chasing ever-increasing amounts of loot, then you should mark Path of Exile 2’s release date on your calendar.

Silent Hill 2 (Remake) – October 8, 2024

The remake of one of survival horror’s best adventures lands on PS5 this October. The original Silent Hill 2 involved a widowed husband called James returning to his favorite spot in the titular town after receiving a letter from his deceased wife. Gaming’s most haunted town is calling to him and James is unable to resist the siren song. What transpires is psychological descent into hell in a game that deals with grief, loss, and guilt.

Monster Hunter Wilds – 2025

The long-awaited sequel to Monster Hunter World will take hunters out of the cozy towns and into the uncharted wilderness. The Monster Hunter series has gone from strength to strength in the past few years, and fans should be excited to see what the Wilds have in store for us. Spoiler alert, it’s likely to involve massive beasts and cute cats.

Astro Bot – September 6, 2024

Those who purchased a PS5 might remember the cute tech demo that was bundled with it called Astro’s Playroom. Now, Astro Bot is getting a whole new adventure which looks like it’ll pick up from where the Playroom left off. It’ll be interesting to see if Sony can turn Astro Bot into the true mascot of the PS5 console.

Don’t forget to check out the rest of the Summer Game Fest line-up, including the upcoming Xbox Showcase.
