Overwatch 2 Tank Tier List

Who are the best tank heroes to play in Overwatch 2 Season 10? We’ve listed the absolute best of the best all the way through to the weakest options in the current season. Here’s what you need to know.

Season 10 of Overwatch 2 has brought a massive change to the tank role, seeing every single tank hero receiving buffs to their armor, health recovery, knockback and damage reduction from headshots.

Mid-season 10 is the time for tanks to rise up, as the role receives some much needed tweaks, but some heroes has gained more than other.

To that end, we look to Overbuff and our read on the meta to help us determine which heroes are thriving.

S Tier

Sigma

Season 10 is a shaky meta for tanks with no one tank ruling them all, however, with the mid-season buff coming in for Sigma, it squarely puts him at the top. With a Gravitic Flux that’s now easier to land, it makes his kit one of the best in the game, especially on poke maps like Circuit Royale, he’s a must-pick.

Winston

Winston in Overwatch 2

Our beloved Winton has had a rocky time in Season 10’s meta, but now that tanks are much beefier in the mid-season, it sees the diving gorilla back on top as the game’s best dive tank. Now that Winston has more sustain, he can easily dive backlines and contest high grounds, making him an essential pick for maps with a lot of verticality.

A Tier

Junker Queen

Mauga

Junker Queen is always a good tank hero to pick, and with the new mid-season tweaks coming in, it only makes her stronger. Now with a good amount of sustain, Junker Queen is now more deadly in brawl comp.

Ramattra

Ramattra is yet another brawl hero that sees his stock rise thanks to the mid-season update, as now he isn’t easily melted down by DPS’, his potential to get close to enemies and initiate a full-on close quater brawl is fantastic.

Mauga

The mid-season changes has been kind of Mauga, as the already tanky Samoan has only gotten tankier, he still has a great amount of damage output, sustain, and CC, all wrapped up in a kit that can both function as poke and brawl. He truly does everything.

Reinhardt

OW2 Reinhardt

If there’s one winner of the mid-season patch, it’s Reinhardt, and he’s finally back on the top. Now that Reinhardt’s sustain has been increased, his viability has shot up, being a great hero to pick in brawl comp where your team is looking to take close teamfights. However, he will struggle on maps where taking high ground is a priority like Watchpoint: Gibraltar and Eichenwalde second point.

B Tier

Doomfist

Doomfist on Lijang tower

Doomfist has always had a rocky place in the meta, with his impact being non-existent in some Seasons, while being a top pick in others, and in mid-season 10, he’s just ok. Although at one point being one of the better dive tanks, Doomfist just isn’t tank-y enough to keep up.

Orisa

Orisa spear

Season 10 hasn’t been kind to Orisa, but neither has Orisa been to the meta. After an early Season 10 balance patch, it saw the horse take its biggest hit in the meta. Although Orisa’s damage output remains high, her survivability has taken a huge hit, with nerfs to her Javelin Spin and Fortify. Mid-season patch remedied some of her problems, but it still remains to be seen if she can hang with the best.

D.Va

dva ow2

Like Winston, dive tank D.Va functions similarly in this meta. D.Va provides great mobility and damage mitigation, however, struggles in the realm of sustain, And in a meta filled with tank-y heroes that needs you as the tank to outlast theirs, its a tough order for D.Vas.

Wrecking Ball

Season 10’s rework of Wrecking Ball brought some hope for Hammond believers, but now mid-way into the Season, it’s just not working out. Although his increased movement and increased sustain were good, he still suffers from bullet sponge syndrome and is too easily melted down. So perhaps next time Hammond.

Zarya

OW2 Zarya

Zarya has lost her footing as one of the stronger tanks available in Overwatch 2. Despite her incredibly damage output and fantastic ultimate, Zarya just doesn’t quite have the survivability nor mobility to survive the immense damage output that’s being put out in Season 10.

Zarya did receive some buffs that increased her damage, but she’s still capable of being blown up instantly, making her a less desirable hero at the moment.

C Tier

Roadhog

Overwatch 2 Roadhog

The mid-season 10 update felt like it should’ve seen Roadhog’s place in the meta rise, however, it can’t take away his glaring flaws, a lack of mobility and an over-reliance to healing to sustain himself, to the point a well place Anti-nade is more than enough to completely elimniate the hog.
