After the first Mega Evolution, the cost to access this form will drop from 400 Mega Energy to 80, then 40, and finally 20. Players can collect Mega Energy by defeating the corresponding Pokemon in Mega Raid battles, by walking with it as their buddy, or by completing special Research Tasks.
